I love being scared and startled, and getting sucked into another world, and I finally found a game that perfectly gave that, being a thriller, horror, comedy, romance, and mystery all in one. I also have some bittersweet feelings about the timing of the iOS release. I also offer affordable testing and consulting for iOS developers. Seriously, don’t pass this one up. It will give you an idea of what the conversations are like without spoiling the story. The benefit of having it on iOS is that you get to play it on a more intimate platform than with a controller or a mouse.

Even if a character annoys you in the beginning, I think they can grow on you. Given pihone it covers paranormal and supernatural elements, the game manages to avoid cliche pretty darn well. The dialogue and characters, the striking visuals—games rarely feel so rich. By using pieced-together voices, stuttering static, and bassy, horn-like tones, it really does make the experience unsettling once it gets going. A lot of the level design is haunting, but it’s also beautiful.

Oxenfree is a narrative mystery adventure by Night School Studio, but don’t be fooled by its artsy aesthetic – this game’s got the creep-factor, for sure.
You play as Alex, a spunky teenage girl with blue hair, and you’re headed to Edwards Island for an annual beach party with your friends and step-brother. I’m not going to complain with how much storage it takes up or that it drains your battery, because you should expect that to happen with a game like this.
With little action, plenty of rich story, and a lot of walking, things can be a little slow at times.
I should say, though, that I started a third time out of curiosity and with the intention of possibly going in for some achievements I missed and just to see what else I could find. As someone who has been getting tired of dialogue-heavy games, I absolutely adored it here. If you race through the game, you can actually miss quite a bit of the extras and even some of the main story and wind up a little confused at the end.
But please do give it more than a few minutes before making your decision. And to pour salt in the wound, I found out that one of the meta-puzzles in the game led to a real-world scavenger iphonr, which is now over, of course. From there, though, this indie adventure floored us with a fresh take on coming-of-age stories and the supernatural.
